About Us

In August 1989, Mary and Gary Eichelsdorfer, Amy Warner, Jerry Tomaine, Vince Brunetti and Gerard Barrett met and formed the Northeast Photography Club. In September, officers were elected and the NEPC was off and running. In more than twenty years, the club has evolved into a large and active organization with over sixty members from all over Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Today, as then, its purpose is to promote interest in and appreciation for the art of photography. Members’ skill levels vary from beginners to professionals. Their areas of photographic interests include portraiture, nature photography, street photography, sports photography, and digital editing and enhancing. During the monthly meetings, members share knowledge and experience to improve their photographic technique and to promote interest in photography. The meetings consist of a short business session, monthly themed competition and a program on various aspects of photography.

The program may be a critique of photographs, club speakers, outside speakers, workshops, or general discussion on photography. The club holds several shows a year where members may submit their entries. Local, professional photographers judge the shows and ribbons are given for First and Second Place and Best of Show. Club members’ work may be seen at many local art competitions throughout the area.

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in photography. Dues are $25/year.

The NPC meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm in Scranton. If you would like to join us as a guest at our next meeting please see the “Contact us” page on our website and send us an email.
